The members of Meisha (Michael Tamburo, Pete Spynda, Ken Camden) are very cognizant of the balance between technical precision and emotion in music. While the album is rich with very intricate guitar and piano playing with great emphasis on interplay between the musicians, the sound is not at all dry. While song titles such as "The Most Perfect Pancake" and "Ill Chihuahua" may imply otherwise, the music, much like a good Abstract Expressionist painting, provides a very clear window to the soul and emotion of the band. Watching Meisha perform is like watching an Abstract Expressionist paint. The band quite literally channels their energy through their instruments. The band's sophomore album, Meisha Returns Meisha Forever, provides an accurate capturing of the aura of one of their live performances. Meisha Returns Meisha Forever was originally intended to comprise three CDs. The most incredible 74 minutes were culled from those three discs to form the album. In it, the band weaves together chiming patterns of music box-like guitar that are constantly evolving and morphing into lullaby-esque drones. Pianos and keyboards are occasionally used to create colorful blends of tone and sound; drums are not. |
